Choose a Finnish .fi domain name
A .fi domain makes your business credible
The .fi domain is Finland’s internet country code, which has been in use since 1986. The .fi domain is administered by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, Traficom (formerly Ficora).
A .fi domain name is a natural choice for Finnish operators such as businesses and organisations. A .fi domain also works well for companies that want to expand their operations to Finland or, for example, open their website to Finnish users.
We have compiled important information about the .fi domain and its registration on this page. We are also happy to help with all matters related to other domain names – you’ll find answers to the most common questions on the domain name page.

Register your own .fi domain easily
As an official .fi domain registrar authorised by Traficom, we take care of everything needed for domain registration on your behalf.
A domain registrar handles on behalf of the customer: registering the domain name, updating the information associated with the domain name, renewing the domain name, transferring the domain name from one user to another, and cancelling the domain name.
.fi domain names have been able to include special characters – that is, the letters å, ä, and ö – since 2005. However, we always recommend registering your primary domain name without special characters.
Please note that, for example, the domain names ääkköset.fi and aakkoset.fi are two separate domain names and must therefore be registered separately.
.fi domain names can easily be transferred using what is called a registrar transfer key. You can obtain the transfer key from your current provider. You can provide it already at the ordering stage. This allows the .fi domain to be transferred to Zoner more quickly, and you can start managing it through our services.
It is generally worth registering other well-known extensions in addition to a .fi domain name – for example .com, .org, or .se. The choice of extensions to register should be based on the operating area of the company or organisation.
