Ongoing costs typically arise from domain name maintenance, web space, and any plugins that require a licence.

A website can be up and running in as little as a day if it is kept simple and no technical challenges arise. On the other hand, building one can take considerably longer if, for example, it is a large e-commerce setup.  As a general principle, there is no need to rush the building of a website, because a well-planned and well-built website often pays for itself.
